Wrap up of YOC Short Course Series
The 2010 Young Orienteers Challenge Short Course Series, run in Gauteng and the Western Cape, has now wrapped up. Tania Wimberley has complied a report that sums up the Series and compares attendance and participation to that of last year.

W. Cape Champs entries open
The W Cape Orienteering Champs entries can now be done online through PayPortal. Although manual entries will still be accepted, we do encourage you enter online. If you are new to PayPortal, you need to register first.
School O at Keurboom
Keurboom Park saw 33 pupils (Grades 5, 6 and 7) and four teachers from Cannons Creek School in Pinelands participating in a one-hour score event, with 24 controls.
SA Champs embargoed areas
The South African Orienteering Championships will be held in the Western Cape between 24 and 26 September 2010. The following area is embargoed and may not be entered, trained upon or surveyed by intending competitors between 1 March and 24 September 2010.
Western Cape Champs in April
This year, the Western Cape Orienteering Championships, presented by the Peninsula Orienteering Club (PENOC), takes place over the weekend of 10 and 11 April 2010. Middle and classic distance events will be held in the Lebanon South area of the Grabouw forests.
175 participants and sunny skies
For the first time in the 2010 Short Course season Gauteng was blessed with perfect weather for the Zoo Lake event, hosted by Adventure Racing Club. And, to mark the occasion, we had a wonderful turnout with around 125 cards and 175 participants.
Three down – GOC and YOC news
The Gauteng Orienteering Clubs (GOC) Short Course series is now three events down following the Valentine’s Day event at Brescia House School (14 February 2010). Although rain threatened, the event was well attended by adults, juniors and Young Orienteer Challenge (YOC) children.
