We have created this short video as an introduction to orienteering. It shows you the basics, step-by-step from what controls look like, to using EMIT, orientating your map, control descriptions and progressing through an orienteering course.

W. Cape Champs entries open

The W Cape Orienteering Champs entries can now be done online through PayPortal. Although manual entries will still be accepted, we do encourage you enter online. If you are new to PayPortal, you need to register first.

Stirrup Glen, 18 April 2010

The final event of the Gauteng Short Course Series will be held on Sunday, 18 April 2010, at ‘The Quarry’ at Stirrup Glen in the South of Jo’burg.

Boksburg, 28 March 2010

Rand Orienteering Club invites all experienced and new orienteers to the seventh Short Course event at Boksburg Stadium (note change in venue from Saheti) on Sunday, 28 March 2010.

Tokai, 27 March 2010

The first forest event of the season will take place this Saturday, 27 March 2010. The details are given below. Full event notice and directions to parking to follow in the next day or two. This is a SATURDAY event (27 March) and will take place in the afternoon.

School O at Keurboom

Keurboom Park saw 33 pupils (Grades 5, 6 and 7) and four teachers from Cannons Creek School in Pinelands participating in a one-hour score event, with 24 controls.

SA Champs embargoed areas

The South African Orienteering Championships will be held in the Western Cape between 24 and 26 September 2010. The following area is embargoed and may not be entered, trained upon or surveyed by intending competitors between 1 March and 24 September 2010.

Western Cape Champs in April

This year, the Western Cape Orienteering Championships, presented by the Peninsula Orienteering Club (PENOC), takes place over the weekend of 10 and 11 April 2010. Middle and classic distance events will be held in the Lebanon South area of the Grabouw forests.

175 participants and sunny skies

For the first time in the 2010 Short Course season Gauteng was blessed with perfect weather for the Zoo Lake event, hosted by Adventure Racing Club. And, to mark the occasion, we had a wonderful turnout with around 125 cards and 175 participants.
