ORIENTEERING EVENT

THE 2010 GAUTENG SHORT COURSE FINAL

Date :             Sunday 18th April 2010

Venue :          “The Quarry” at Stirrup Glen (Horse Farm/Game Reserve), Klipriver Area.

Directions:   From the East Rand : N3 South onto N12 West, onto R59 South, turn off at Swartkoppies, travel West on R554 (approx. 13km), at the T-Junction turn left and turn left again after 1,3 km onto R550, next road (100m) turn right (Alewynspoort), turn right again after 0,8 km onto dirt road and follow “O” signs to Stirrup Glen Farm.

                        From the West : Follow M1 South past Southgate onto R82, turn left after Lido (R550) and then follow as above (Alewynspoort and Stirrup Glen)

                        PLEASE NOTE : The event centre is a further 1,5 km past the farmhouse, along (in places) a rough track.  Access by 4X4’s or cars with reasonable ground clearance only. Toilets are only available near the farmhouse. Gavin Venter has kindly offered to ferry people down to the quarry. If you would like his assistance please meet at the farmhouse parking between 08:00 and 08:30

Time :            Registration :                       08:30 ~ 09:30

                        Starts             :                       09:00 ~ 10:00

                        Close of competition and lucky draw:    ± 11:00

Courses :      Three courses are available : Winning time is ±20min for all courses.

                        There will be a string course for the little ones.

Terrain :        Old Slate Quarry with areas of Blue Gum trees.

Map :              Detailed Map : Scale 1:5000 / 5m contours, A4

Entry Fees : Seniors – R40 (RACO members R25.00)

                        Juniors – R20

                        Groups – R50 (R10 per extra map)

                        EMIT (Electronic timing cards) hire – R5

Notes :           EMIT ELECTRONIC TIMING WILL BE USED

Newcomers are welcome! A short introduction will be given at 08:30.
