There are currently two schools leagues in SA – the Gauteng Orienteering Schools League and the Polokwane/Limpopo Orienteering Schools League.
The Gauteng Orienteering Schools League
The Gauteng Orienteering Schools League has been running since 2000. It is held on Monday afternoons during the first term of school from late January, through February and into March. These events are held on school and park properties. Only lightning will stop or cancel an event.
The Gauteng OSL consists of a training event and a series of five log events and culminates in a final inter-school challenge for selected learners from both Gauteng and Limpopo.
The Gauteng OSL accommodates Grades 6 to 12. Participants are usually entered by their school but if students would like to participate and their school is not involved in OSL or they are homeschooled, they can enter individually.
