Last week, Michael Crone qualified for his second sprint final at the World Orienteering Championships. He is the only South African who has every qualified for a final, having done so for the first time in Switzerland in 2012. We are, once again, incredibly proud of his achievement and commend him for all his hard work leading up to the World Champs in Estonia.
3 South African’s will be taking part in the Junior World Orienteering Championship in Finland. Christie Courtnage, Andries Swart and Carl Holmes are representing SA in the competition which runs from the 9th until the 16th of July. Live tracking will be availalbe for all races. The Junior World Orienteering Championships kicks off this weekend. 6 South Africans will be sprinting through the old town of Scuol on Sunday. On Monday they will move to the Engadin Valley where they will tackle the Long distance event. On Wednesday the team will take part in the Middle Qualification race followed by the Middle Final on Thursday. The last race of the week is the 3 person forest Relay on Friday.
While Timothy Chambers and Roark Robinson will be competing in their last JWOC, Christie Courtnage, Kirsten Chambers, Carl Holmes and Andries Swart will be running in national colours for the first time. We wish the team and their support crew in Switzerland all the best for the competition week.

A colour version of the SAOF logo was decided on at the AGM in October. Club representatives and the SAOF management committee voted for their favourite logo from 4 options.
While the colour version of the logo will be used when colour is required, the black and white logo can still be used as appropriate.
