It is with great pleasure that the SAOF Selection Committee announce the Junior and Youth national squads for 2011.
Members of the 2011 Youth National Squad are:
Girls (in no particular order):
- Laura Troost (PenOC) and Cian Oldknow (RACO)
Boys (in no particular order):
- Roark Robinson (PenOC) and Timothy Chambers (RACO)
Members of the 2011 Junior National Squad are:
Women (in no particular order):
- Sarah Pope (ROC), Salome Van Hoepen, Stehpanie Courtnage, Jessica Hemer and Jessica Lund (all RACO)
Men (in no particular order):
- Bradley Lund, JP Sissing and Anthony Stott (all RACO)
The Selection Committee has reviewed included a Youth Squad which is primarily aimed at the 1993 and later u18 / 1995 and later u16 age groups. It will be seen as a preparation stepping stone for athletes wanting to achieve at Junior level. The National Squads Definition document has been updated appropriately.
All the selected athletes are expected to show steady improvement, commitment and fitness throughout the year. These expectations as well as the benefits of squad membership are detailed in the National Squads Definition document. The updated Season Selection Policy for 2011 details important events and dates. Team selection announcements will be made in April 2011, after the Western Cape Championships. These documents and other details can be found in the High Performance section of the SAOF website.
